CÓMO SURGIÓ OLINMUN / HOW OLINMUN CAME ABOUT

Como una iniciativa de la Fundadora del Colegio Olinca, Ma. Teresa Compeán de Carrera con la finalidad de organizar un modelo de debate sobre temas internacionales basados en el protocolo de la ONU, para que estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria participaran y practicaran sus habilidades de debate.

As an initiative of the founder of Colegio Olinca, Ma. Teresa Compeán de Carrera, with the aim of organizing a model debate on international issues based on UN protocol, so that middle and high school students could participate and practice their debating skills.

  • INICIATIVA DEL COLEGIO / SCHOOL INITIATIVE

    El modelo comenzó en el Colegio Olinca, una institución educativa que valora la educación internacional y las tendencias educativas innovadoras.

    The model began at Olinca School, an educational institution that values international education and innovative educational trends.

  • PROPÓSITO / PURPOSE

    El objetivo principal fue educar a los jóvenes en la resolución de problemas complejos a través del debate fundamentado y respetuoso, inspirado en el modelo de las Naciones Unidas (ONU).

    The main objective was to educate young people in complex problem solving through informed and respectful debate, inspired by the United Nations (UN) model.

  • ORGANIZACIÓN / ORGANIZATION

    Los estudiantes de preparatoria Olinca actúan como el Secretariado y convocan a otros colegios para participar en los debates. Ellos seleccionan los comités y los temas a debatir siguiendo el protocolo oficial de la ONU. Se desarrolla en idioma inglés, con participantes de escuelas secundarias y preparatorias de México y otros países que debaten temas de actualidad. 

    Olinca High school students act as the Secretariat, and inviting other schools to participate in the debates. They select the committees and topics to be debated following the official UN protocol. The debates are conducted in English, with participants from middle and high schools in Mexico and other countries discussing current issues.

COMMITEE DESCRIPTION

General Assembly is the state's bicameral legislature, comprised of the Senate and the House of Representatives, responsible for creating laws, setting the state budget, and representing citizens. It is the state's legislative branch, tasked with debating, amending, and passing laws on various topics and can also propose amendments to the state constitution. The legislature meets annually, and its primary functions include creating the state's operating budget and drawing legislative districts every ten years based on Census data.
